Principal Electrical Engineer - Bristol - to £55K Package

Human Capital Solutions is currently working in partnership with a leading global building services consultancy and one of the most renowned, respected consultancies in the UK. They are currently looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to be based in their Bristol office.

They have provide turnkey service including: MEP Design from pre-planning, feasibility, concept and detailed design to post occupancy evaluations and Operational MEP Building Engineering. They work across a wide range of sectors and have an impressive portfolio covering everything from smaller feasibility studies to some of the largest schemes in the world. They work closely as a team to ensure we achieve the best results and deliver a consistent high quality service to clients.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer you will focus on Operational MEP Building Engineering. The role complements the core design business and enables our client to provide an integrated professional consultancy.

The key focus of the Principal Electrical Engineer is to advise their clients (Investors, Landlords, Property Agents, Building Managers, occupiers) that their buildings are operating as effectively as they can be from an MEP perspective and to investigate and advise of the best areas to invest to gain the maximum value from their buildings.

The role:

The Principal Electrical Engineer you will deliver a combination of services including: Plant Renewal, Replacement and Refurbishment, Surveys and Technical advice.

Providing technical advice to clients on engineering systems, legislation compliance and how to undertake forward planning and refurbishment, management of change and the maximisation of the total asset value.

About you:

You will be client facing, developing and producing reports and be able to offer guidance on MEP Operational Engineering matters across a range of sectors.

Ideally you will have a relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification. However most importantly you will be confident in your experience to date and be able to work autonomously following some initial guidance on procedures.

Team-based work approach and an appreciation of holistic working.

Excellent communication skills with both internal and external clients.

You will understand the significance of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and computer modelling in the design of buildings and comprehend their impact on your work.

    Requirements

    • 3 years' experience in HVAC design, within a consultancy environment.
    • Able to produce calculations, specifications, and technical reports (typically for RIBA Stages 2-4a)
    • Previous experience leading smaller projects.
    • Advanced knowledge of HVAC and an awareness of CHP, Energy Networks, District Heating, Operational Energy and Passivhaus or BREEAM.
    • Able to work in the UK, without the need to be sponsored.

    Due to succession planning, I'm looking for an Electrical Director for an M&E design consultancy based in Hertfordshire.

    Working alongside the Founding Director, you'll be the Lead Electrical Engineer on projects, and manage and mentor the wider team of electrical engineers.

    Typically partnering with architects you'll design buildings that are simple to utilise, intelligent controls, renewables, PV's and BMS. You'll review the electrical designs for distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarms, smart metering, as well as standby power generation on the larger projects.

    Rather than getting stuck on only one or two large projects a year, here you'll get involved in around 20 projects a year including museums, offices, schools, theatres, artist studios, universities, churches and mixed-use developments.
