Job Description

As one of the leading low energy and MEP design consultancies, you'll become a key part of the building performance engineering team and work on £5 - £50M projects.

Supported by the Chartered Sustainability Director and Chartered Sustainability Associate; you'll develop a very holistic understanding of building sciences and building services.

You'll enjoy a diverse role consisting of building physics, Passivhaus, thermal and energy modelling, climate-based daylighting modelling, sunlight analysis, thermal comfort studies, indoor air quality studies, net zero energy building design and innovative energy strategies.

You'll take a holistic approach and ensure the buildings you model, achieve greater building performance and promote best practice low carbon design.

Key duties;

  • Ensuring Sustainability is integrated with the MEP design.
  • Liaising with clients and helping them achieve their sustainability aspirations.
  • Able to apply Passivhaus methods to large scale, education, hotel or mixed-use developments.
  • Prepare Sustainability Statement and energy strategies to support planning applications.
  • Assist with Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to calculate embodied carbon assessments.
  • Use BREEAM, WELL, LEED or Greenstar environmental rating tools.
  • Carry our R&D work in order to develop new workstreams or tools.

Carry out Post Occupancy Evaluations (POE) and seek to close the energy performance gap.

  • Remain active in sustainability initiatives such as LETI, EPG or NLA.
  • Attend regular CPD's and work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Sustainability, Architecture or Energy Engineering.
  • At least three years' experience in a similar role.
  • Able to use IESVe, PHPP and Revit.

    I have a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join an international, MEP Design and Sustainability Consultancy based in London.

    Established over a decade ago, they are widely regarded as a leader in ESD / Green Building Design and launched a new London office in 2024, which has been a phenomenal success so far.

    Working with (i.e. not just working for) their Electrical Director, you'll be responsible for leading meetings, leading projects, and also assisting with fee bids and resource planning. You will be fully supported in the role, but not micromanaged. You'll see projects through from feasibility, design, all the way through to construction and post occupancy.

    This role will appeal to a Senior Electrical Engineer who enjoys autonomy and wants to have a huge influence over the future direction and success of the Electrical team.

    As you develop your own network and contacts (realistically over the next 6 - 12 months) you'll develop your own reputation and relationships with architects, contractors, managing agents and end users.

    You'll be rewarded with a basic salary up to £65K, an annual bonus of up to 10%, 25 days annual leave a hybrid working policy.

    · 5 years' experience as an Electrical (Building Services) design engineer.
    · Previous experience working for a consultancy (ie Building Services, or multi-disciplinary)
