Principal Electrical Engineer - To £65K 35-hour week profit share interesting and complex projects.

As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you'll enjoy working for an inclusive and supportive employer on a range of complex and highly serviced buildings across the education, science, and research, residential, healthcare, and leisure sectors.

As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you'll work alongside the Electrical Director and take a lead role in the design and delivery of projects across RIBA Stages 2 -4a and occasionally through to RIBA Stage 5.

You'll enjoy working in a lovely, modern, and spacious office based near London Bridge in a team of around 25 bright and enthusiastic MEP engineers. You'll benefit from direct access to the MEP Director and enjoy full autonomy over your own clients, projects, and team.

You'll be trusted to use your own initiative and experience to drive projects forward and use your common sense to decide when it would be most beneficial for you to be working in the office or working from home.

So long as your projects are making good profit, you'll be rewarded with an additional bonus of around £500 (in addition to your guaranteed basic salary of up to £40K) per month.

    Projects will include major decarbonisation and heat recovery projects with blue chip firms, CAT B office fit outs, surgeries, large industrial buildings and upgrades of listed and cultural buildings.

    You will be fully supported in the role, but not micromanaged and enjoy the opportunity of liaising directly with architects, contractors and end users, something that just isn't available when working in large, corporate engineering consultancies.

    In addition to a basic salary of up to £40K they also offer;

    • Up to 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).

    Established in the UK 50 years ago, this privately owned building services engineering consultancy three offices around the UK. With building services and sustainability at their core, they specialise in the design, management and delivery of commercial, industrial, hotel, residential, logistics and retail projects.

    Reporting to a hands-on Director who has been at the practice for 10 years; you'll be responsible for leading projects, mentoring a small team of Mechanical Engineers and managing key client relationships. Recently completed projects include a new HQ Commercial office which is NZC in operation (EPC A, BREEAM Excellent), a complex refurbishment to the Waldorf Hotel in London, an 8m sq. ft industrial development (Net Zero Carbon, LEED Platinum) in the midlands and new mixed-use development including 850 residential units.

    As a firm that is committed to developing, retaining and promoting their employees you'll be encouraged to attend weekly CPD's, usually at least two a week. You'll be fully supported so that you can move up to a Principal level within the next 12 months and be given as much autonomy as you desire.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the HVAC design elements on multiple projects, from feasibility to construction.
    • Build and maintain relationships with Clients, Architects, Contractors and external consultants.
    • Assist with resource allocation and reviewing the work completed by the mechanical team.
    • Carry out Site inspections; flag up any potential risks or issues to the Project Director.
    • Attend client, design team and progress meetings.
    • Maintain a commercial awareness on projects, ensure they remain profitable and meet the client's brief.
    • Act with honesty, integrity and transparency.
    • Work as part of a team of 20 MEP Design Engineers, to meet common goals.

    Essential Requirements

    • Clear communications skills, comfortable in a client facing role.
    • At least four years' experience in a similar role, working as a Mechanical (HVAC / Building Services) Design Engineer
    • Previous experience working for a consultancy or contractor, producing HVAC designs.
    • Able to work in the UK, without the need to be sponsored.
    • Good understanding of HVAC and Public Health Design.

    This fully remote role will appeal to a Mechanical Engineer who wants the security of a monthly salary, 25 days paid leave yet still have a dedicated mentor and having full autonomy over your projects.

    You will be fully supported in the role, but not micromanaged. You will be given the opportunity to lead your own projects from feasibility, design, all the way through to construction. As you develop your own network and contacts (realistically over 6 - 12 months) you'll be allowed to pursue the types of projects you enjoy and choose whether you prefer collaborating with architects, contractors, or end users.

    This Mechanical (HVAC) Design Engineer opportunity offers the freedom and autonomy of a freelance role, yet the opportunity of having a huge say into the future direction and success of the business.

    You'll be rewarded with a basic salary up to £55K, an annual bonus of up to 10%, 25 days annual leave and a fully funded, holiday typically three or four days in Europe.
