Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job reference number: 0027

We’re looking for potential, not the finished article.

2–3 Years’ Experience | MEP Consultancy | Career Development to Chartered Engineer

Are you a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer with 2–3 years’ experience who wants to continue learning, develop technically and work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer?

This is an opportunity to join an established MEP Consultancy where your development will be taken seriously.

You will be mentored and fully supported by a Senior / Associate Engineer, who will work closely with you, develop your technical knowledge and guide you on your journey towards Chartered Engineer status.

The variety, size and complexity of projects is excellent, including:

  • Education – Schools, Colleges and Universities
  • Life Sciences and Research Facilities
  • High-End Residential
  • Commercial and Financial Institutions

You’ll work in an environment where Directors, Associates and Senior Engineers are visible and approachable, giving you exposure to experienced engineers while allowing you to see and understand all aspects of a project.

CPD is actively encouraged and fully supported, with a genuine emphasis on helping engineers continue to learn and progress.

Ideally, you’ll have a recognised industry qualification (BEng / BSc / MEng) and some practical experience of mechanical building services design, including areas such as:

  • Heat loss and heat gain calculations
  • U-values
  • Pipe and pump sizing
  • Duct and fan sizing
  • Psychometrics
  • Control valve sizing
  • Thermal modelling
  • AutoCAD and Revit

You don’t need to have covered everything.

If there are areas of mechanical design you haven’t yet been exposed to, your mentor will work through them with you and help you develop that knowledge.

For an Engineer with the right foundations, attitude and desire to learn, this is an excellent opportunity to develop technically, gain exposure to a diverse range of projects and progress towards Chartered status in a genuinely supportive environment.
