Principal Mechanical Engineer

Principal Mechanical (HVAC) Engnieer

I have a unique opportunity within a well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy based in central London.

Operating from six regional offices, they offer expert advice on building performance engineering, all disciplines of building services and Civil and Structural Engineering. They also have an established facilities management and building performance team inhouse and provide a total solution to a building’s entire lifecycle, from planning to post occupancy evaluations.

As an experienced Principal (or possibly Associate level) Mechanical ( Building Services) Engineer with at least 15 years’ experience in the building services industry, you’ve been around long enough to have seen a number of projects through, from feasibility to construction.

You’ve learnt what works, what fits and what the common issues are, that normally pop up during the construction or installation stages of a project. You are not afraid to jump in and solve a complex problem that no other Mechanical Engineer has been able to diagnose or resolve.

You are comfortable using your own initiative to keep projects progressing forward, however still know when to refer up the chain and ask a Director or Partner for their advice if you are not sure.

You’re confident in your ability to come up with new ideas and are not afraid to challenge and questions others if you know what they have done is incorrect, unsafe, doesn’t comply with UK and British standards or just isn’t coordinated properly.

You are just as comfortable talking with architects as you are challenging contactors “value engineering” proposals; as you want to make sure your client receives what they have paid you to achieve.

As a technical guru when it comes to all things HVAC, you are always seen as the go to person for the less experienced engineers when they have questions. You enjoy passing on what you’ve learnt to the younger generation of engineers and believe that there is no such things as problems, but rather they are just challenges that haven’t had an appropriate solution yet.

You carry around a red pen in your top pocket so you can correct drawings; however you are also digitally savvy enough to make your way around a Revit, Hevacomp or IES model.

If this sounds like you, and you’d like to join a stable, friendly and professional practice of consulting engineers, then please do get in touch.

As a Principal Mechanical (Building Services) Engineer, you’ll get to work on a diverse and challenging range of projects including labs, science and research facilities, hospitals, super prime residential developments in West London, low energy university campuses and high spec, high tech commercial offices across London, Oxfordshire, and East Anglia.
