Yet working for both side of the fence means that they are also able to take projects to Stage 5. Their designs are properly coordinated, easy to install, easy to maintain and remain flexible.

Working for a small consultancy has many advantages. Not only will you receive ongoing mentoring and support from the Mechanical Director, you’ll also learn about all aspects of the industry including surveys, fees, resource planning and liaise directly with stakeholders.

Key tasks.

• Conduct inspections of existing building services installations, determine what existing services can be retained
• Produce mechanical designs and calculations for RIBA Stages 2 to 4, and sometimes even Stage 5.
• Use IESVe or Hevacomp for calculations
• Attend site visits, surveys, and witness the commissioning of M&E services
• Produce detailed specifications and coordinated drawings
• Review contractors’ proposals, respond to RFI’s
• Attend site and design team meetings.
• Requirements
• Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role
• Able to use Revit, Bluebeam and either IESVe or Hevacomp
• Takes pride in their work
• Able to manage your own time effectively.
