Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Manchester

As one of the true early pioneers of Sustainable design, this highly admired building services consultancy has consistently set new standards when it comes to building performance engineering.

Despite Covid they didn't made anyone redundant, kept everyone on full pay and even went ahead with promotions, pay rises and paid out bonuses too.

Reporting to a very supportive Mechanical Director, you'll be responsible for designing, managing and leading projects from feasibility to construction.

Current projects range from Net Zero Carbon Masterplans, LEED Platinum HQ's for global Tech firms, ultra-low energy universities and mixed-use developments.

Requirements

  • Able to work closely with architects and clients.
  • Comfortable acting as a main point of contact for all HVAC matters.
  • Confident discussing the environmental (Sustainability) aspects or strategies of all the projects under you control.
  • Able to work from the Manchester office as few days a week as required.
  • Able to work in the UK without the need to be sponsored.

    England has some truly remarkable listed buildings and a long history of innovation. However, unless these iconic buildings are improved, maintained, or decarbonised, we run the risk of them falling into ruin.

    That's where you come in.

    As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with previous experience in existing buildings, you'll get involved in complex upgrades and refurbishment projects on listed buildings across the UK. You'll help future proof these buildings and integrate low or zero carbon technologies into buildings that were never originally designed to have gas or electricity!

    You'll enjoy collaborating with internal M&E Design Engineers, planners, external specialist consultants and conservation architects. You'll engineer solutions that will see these magnificent buildings last another 500 or more years, whilst ensuring that they continue to have a smaller carbon footprint.

    In addition to usual duties of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC design, site surveys, attending design, coordination, and client meetings etc) here you'll also have a dedicated R&D budget so that you can explore new or emerging technologies.

    I have a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join an international, MEP Design and Sustainability Consultancy based in London.

    Established over a decade ago, they are widely regarded as a leader in ESD / Green Building Design and launched a new London office in 2024, which has been a phenomenal success so far.

    Working with (i.e. not just working for) their Electrical Director, you'll be responsible for leading meetings, leading projects, and also assisting with fee bids and resource planning. You will be fully supported in the role, but not micromanaged. You'll see projects through from feasibility, design, all the way through to construction and post occupancy.

    This role will appeal to a Senior Electrical Engineer who enjoys autonomy and wants to have a huge influence over the future direction and success of the Electrical team.

    As you develop your own network and contacts (realistically over the next 6 - 12 months) you'll develop your own reputation and relationships with architects, contractors, managing agents and end users.

    You'll be rewarded with a basic salary up to £65K, an annual bonus of up to 10%, 25 days annual leave a hybrid working policy.
