Engineering Manager - London £58K Bonus & Package:

Human Capital Solutions is working with a leading property consultancy to source an M&E Engineering Manager to manage all aspects of M&E, within one of Central London's most iconic and most prestigious commercial buildings.

A high profile mixed-use building, our client is responsible for managing the third party M&E maintenance contractor for hard services, as well as tenant services and total FM.

Role Purpose:

To Assist the Senior Engineering Manager in ensuring and maintaining effective management systems and procedures in the delivery and continuity of service of the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Services

Key Responsibilities:

* Contract Management.
* Engineering Compliance.
* Technical/Operational Support Building Managers and Occupiers.
* Auditing of Maintenance Programs
* Inspection of PPM/Reactive Works.
* Review Occupier License Applications.
* Monitor Tenant Fit-Out Works.
* Assist in the Preparation & management of service charge budgets
* Develop and maintain the base building asset register

Essential Requirements:

* Responsibility and ownership of complete engineering and electronic security service delivery.
* Engineering Management experience (demonstrating a minimum of 3-5 years contract manager experience).
* Commercial awareness.
* Contract management.
* Must have a customer focused attitude and a flexible working style.
* Budget Management.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong leadership and motivational skills.
* 3rd Party/Contractor Management.
* Health & Safety.
* Project Management, including demised tenant fit-out experience.

Candidate Profile:

Candidates will be technically qualified in M&E Engineering, ideally through an apprenticeship route, with at least 3 years of management experience within the commercial building services environment as a technical/engineering or contract manager.

Experience working within high rise buildings is desirable and whilst the technical aspect of the position is essential, the role will also involve liaising with the numerous tenants in the building, so a personable and approachable nature is essential.

This position will suit either someone working already on the managing agent/client side, or particularly to those working for a 3rd party contractor looking to further their experience and prospects with a market leader within commercial real estate.

    Does size matter?

    Although this MEP Consultancy would be classified as small, the majority of the projects they normally work on range between 500M - 1B so in this situation size doesn't matter.

    With a policy of only employing experience Engineers with a minimum of three years' experience, you'll join a very well structured and experienced team of Seniors, Principals and Associates and get plenty of support.

    You'll get to work on exciting UK and global projects including museums, high-rise commercial or residential towers, retail developments, stadiums and universities and see them through to completion.

    You'll enjoy extensive autonomy, a very enjoyable and social working environment and have a clear career path to Senior Electrical Engineer within two years.


    • Working on projects from inception to completion.
    • Working in true partnership with architects to help bring their ideas to life.
    • Managing your own time to ensure projects remain financially viable.
    • Acting as a key point of contact for all electrical matters on your own projects.
    • Promoting new ideas around low carbon, sustainable and energy efficient building design.
    • Attending CPD and maintaining a good awareness of CIBSE and ASHRAE standards.


    • Degree qualified and ideally a member of the IET.
    • Minimum of three years' experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, within a building services or multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy.
    • Able to work on projects with minimal supervision.

    Whether it's a complex extension to a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, a new build research laboratory or an upgrade to a clean room; most of the projects you'll work on will be the first of their kind in the UK.

    You'll work directly in partnership with the clients as you lead the Electrical team to design, plan, manage and deliver world class projects.

    As a key part of the Senior Management board you'll report directly to the MD and have full autonomy over the design team and deliverables and also have a significant influence into the future direction of the firm.

    With current projects ranging from £5M to £140M you'll enjoy a lot of variety and get to work on both new builds and also complex upgrade, extension or refurbishment projects.


    • Degree qualified and preferably Chartered.
    • Minimum of eight years' experience as a Design Engineer, working for a consultancy or design and build contractor.
    • Previous experience seeing projects from inception to construction.
    • Able to mange a team, mange projects and mange client's expectations
